Fidelity Bank Plc. has announced the appointment of its new Managing Director/CEO, Mrs. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe.
Fidelity Bank announced the assumption to duty of its new Managing Director in a statement made available to ElombahNews on Friday.
Mrs. Onyeali-Ikpe’s ascension followed the retiring from service of its former Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo.
Prior to her appointment, she was the Executive Director, Lagos & South West
Mr. Okonkwo, on his part, bowed out from the bank’s management after attaining the mandatory thirty-five years on December 31, 2020, in line with the bank’s governance policy.
In the statement, Fidelity Bank noted that Onyeali-Ikpe’s assumption of duty is an important milestone in the history of the bank.
This, it said, is because the 4th Chief Executive is the first female to occupy this position since the inception of the bank in 1988.
The statement reads:
“We are delighted to inform of the formal assumption of office by Mrs. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe as Managing Director/CEO, Fidelity Bank Plc on January 1, 2021, succeeding Mr. Nnamdi Okonkwo who completed his contract tenure and retired on December 31, 2020, in line with our governance policy.
“This is an important milestone in our history with Mrs. Onyeali-Ikpe becoming the 4th Chief Executive and the first female to occupy this position since the inception of the bank in 1988.
“Prior to her appointment as Managing Director/CEO, she served as Executive Director, Lagos & South West and has been an integral part of the transformation team at the bank in the last 5 years.
“The new management team, under her leadership will consolidate on the already laid foundation and track record of performance, to execute the bank’s next growth phase, even as we seek for your continued support and patronage.”
